Charlotte Orchard

Charlotte Orchard married Robert (Bob) Renals of Poplars, Fletchers Bridge, Cardinham. Her sister Betsy married Bob's brother Jack — two brothers marrying two sisters, binding the Renals and Orchard families together.

Charlotte was one of three sisters recorded singing English Folk songs in the early 1970s. That recording lives on as a CD released by Veteran Records, catalogue number VTR119CD.

Her voice was played at her son's funeral — a final, deeply personal connection across the years.

The Orchard Family

The Orchards were a travelling family and successful business people. Charlotte and her sisters carried with them a rich tradition of English Folk song.
