Andrew James Renals

Roy, Andrew and Sheila Renals — Priory Park, Bodmin, summer 1957
Roy and Sheila Renals with their firstborn son Andrew, photographed at the duck pond in Priory Park, Bodmin, on a summer's day — almost certainly 1957, before the birth of Andrew's sister Lorraine in June 1958. Roy has Andrew settled against his shoulder on the low wall at the pond's edge; Sheila is alongside in a tea dress. The pond itself is ancient — the surviving fishpond of the Augustinian priory dissolved by Henry VIII in 1538.
The photographer is unknown. The print is a black and white commercially processed image, 8.5 x 13.5cm, preserved in its original presentation folder. It came to Andrew from his parents' archive and is one of the earliest photographs he has of himself with Roy and Sheila.
